Things I wish I knew before I became an Artist

I’ve been a Professional Artist since 2007 and it’s only since 2018 that certain structures started to fall in place and all the hard work started to bear fruit. I’ve written this article in the hope that it will help beginner artist to start their career on the right foot and spare them some of the pitfalls along the way.

Last Thoughts:

Like in any career, you will experience up and down times.  You will experience unwanted criticism, sometimes downright mean and other times people will say it to actually help you.  Learn the difference 🙂

Life and death is in the power of your tongue.  So be careful about how you talk about your art if you are positive that you will improve, you will.  If you speak hate about your art, it will make it difficult to improve.

Last but not least, try to get as much guidance as possible from other professional artists that have been successful in their career.

However, if you would like to learn more, I do offer art career consulting workshops (minimum 5 people) or one-on-one workshops.  WhatsApp 083 400 2864 for more information or email liesel@lieselwessels.co.za
